You will find “Agony” on the “This is Life” album

Agony

Intro:  C          Em      Dm      G
              C                                   Em
Have you ever let your heart belong to another?
Dm                                             G                               C
To be held warmly in her grip more tightly than your mother?
     F                 Dm                        G                        Am
Have you ever felt so helpless that you clamor for her touch?
     Dm                D                    G              G7
Have you ever felt entranced by love so very much?

F#7     B7       E          E Things don’t always go as you expect

Have you ever felt the terror when she has nothing to say?
Have you ever felt more pain than when she walked away?
She still has your heart and left you a hollowed shell
Have you ever imagined that love could turn to hell?

Love, when abandoned, rips you open to the bone
Or love gives you wings to soar beyond the sky
When love goes away, you’ll never feel so alone
Because, love answers everything and you don’t care why.

But, have you ever been dead with no feelings at all?
You have no interest in climbing, you don’t care if you fall
Nothing can make you smile and there’s no reason to cry
The horror of indifference. No what, where, who, when, why.

F                     G               Em           Am
Love, lift me high, or tear me apart
Dm                  G          C                      C
Life, without you is death to my heart.

AGONY

This song is another shot at the downer side of love. I recall a time in my life many decades ago when I felt like I was missing all of the highs and lows that close relationships provide. I was riding on flat ground, not a roller coaster and I didn’t like it. This story discusses that subject. The song came out as ‘too nice’ until I used the raspy guitar to give it some angry expression. The short video here was done a week before I uploaded the song. In fact, I tweaked this instrumental again after this video was made.

Best song yet. Pulls no punches, grabbed me from the get go. LOVE IT. Quit your day job.. focus on writing and selling this shit
