Waiting
After writing songs about love that basically celebrate the joyous nature about love, I thought I should try writing some things about the other side of love – the pain. It is tough to do when I am a very happy guy. This song is one of those. This is a story adapted from the actual story of a good friend. I am sure it is a common story. As with other songs of mine, I tell the story but feel compelled to close with a comforting thought instead of leaving the mood in a mess. Once again, musically, the instrumental in the second half makes use of the crawling note through a chord progression to build suspense for the close. The drums play a big role in this one.

She shares love with her cat
She was young, carefree and fun
Tried everything under the Sun
While waiting for the love of her life
He arrived and cut her with a knife
She cries at night from the pain
Maybe she’ll never love again
She thinks she’s failed at everything
For this woman, the Angels sing
She told me once of her dreams
Far out of reach or so they seem
She dreams of love so complete
With a man who’d never cut her deep
