Some are Weakened
This is my concise rant against organized religion hoping that the words might wake up at least one of the young people who fall into its trap. This too was written some years ago (2014) and I still cannot think of a more concise and accurate description of what I believe than this. It uses my unavoidable play on words in the title and within.
Some Are Weakened
Am E
Am E
I just love a summer weekend
Am E
Watch the children and sipping tea
C Am
Content I am to be with you
Dm G
Happy with the things we do
C Am
Love paints me like the breeze
Dm G C
These things strengthen me with ease
E
And then
We’ve all heard the preacher man
Who shouts aloud his belief in God
By his words, some are captured
A great relief, he struck a chord
Save me Lord for I have sinned
I am lost but for You within
Amen
Am G
I suppose you think you’ve got it
F E
Figured out real well
Am G
I suppose you think there’s nothing to this
F E
But Heaven and there’s Hell
Please believe whatever you must
But understand dear, so do I
Some get their strength from within
Some are weakened by the Preacher man
You’re not wrong, you’re not right
God is in you. He’s in plain sight
E Am
Always was.
