You will find “slide me in” on the “this is life” album

Slide me in

With this one, the chords came first – as is often the case and I had no lyrics or story for them. The verse chords are a tight A, C#m, Ab7 adhering again to the Lennon trick of note progressions and allows a fun “lick” that the bass plays over and over with the lead guitar kicking in between verses. The words are just a jumble of thoughts that conjure up anything from a request within a sexual relationship to having to stand in line at the DMV. Make of it what you wish.

Slide Me In

Pick me up or pin me down, Either way might work
Turn me over, fold me under, Nothings going to hurt
Upside down, or spun around, Back to where he’s been
All I really want from you is Slide me in

Over here or over there, he don’t mind at all
You got my number in your hand, Please give him a call
You’ve seen my face, You know my place, Now you can begin
All I really want from you is Count to ten, Smile at me, then Slide me in

Once or twice we’ll get it wrong but you have all night
I am me and you are you, your gunna get it right
Have a soda, glass of water or a jug of gin
I’ll try again. There we go, I’m Sliding in

Instrumental

That was fun and really good, Congratulations all
Now you see how it works, Not difficult at all
Guess we’re done, I gotta run. He’ll be back real soon
Thank you very much. You slid me in

Line up this way, line up that way. What a dreadful day
Do it over, send another, there’s got to be a better way
Ah forget it, go to hell. Now keep you anger in
Forget that. Remember this, When you ask, You’ll slide in

You look real good, are you  OK? Yeah, I feel just fine
Then you need to go see her. I think I’ll make her mine
If you love her, she’ll recover. I’ll get her back again
She’ll be happy and she’ll say. Slide me in
