Water
While walking with Giselle one spring day along the river, I got the idea for a song in which I get to ask the water where it is going, where it has been as if it would tell me. It struck me that while all living forms on Earth are short-lived, water is here for pretty much eternity and if it could talk – wow! What a story it would have.

Water, tell me your story
C C7 Am Am7
Water, the places you have been
Dm (run FEDC) G G7
Quiet, serene in all your glory
Waves, rolling by
Waves, tip your cap with the others
I’ll watch you when you arrive
Embrace the land. She’s your Mother
Water, over time
Have you seen the Arctic and the Amazon?
Have you spent many years underground?
The places you’ve been go on and on.

Water….
Instrumental Verse x2
Water, wave to me
Water, black the sky and fly today
Water, I praise your tranquility
After the storms have blown away
Water, bring me peace
As you slide by in your dance with the Sun
Water, caress the rocks, feed the roots
Someday, I’ll die while you go on and on.
C Dm, G7 C
