The Coffee song
These days, I have a daily routine involving the consumption of a cup of coffee – or three – each morning. Such a ritual deserved a song. The needed upbeat mood called for a rather standard rock formula. I like this song a lot for that reason.
The Coffee Song
E A6sus2add#11add14 Bdim7 C#7
F# F#m A7 B7
E (4 bars)
I can’t walk and I can’t talk
A (2 Bars)
My eyes are shut, I can’t see the clock
E (2 bars)
I’m standing up but I have no mind
B (2 bars)
I can’t find my other sock
Why is life crushing me this way?
I’m supposed to go to work today
A disaster waiting to happen, I’d say
Oh God, I need some help today!
E (2 bars to enter chorus)
A B
Drip, Drip, Drip, give me coffee please
Sugar, cream, black, as you please
C#m A B
I just need a little time with this Goddess of mine
E E
Sip, Sip, Sip, it hits the spot
A B
Wet and brown and steaming hot
C#m D
I scare me ‘til I have my caffeine
F# B
So, I’m not going anywhere!
My coffee found my sock over there
These magic beans are better than gold
My coffee even combed my hair
But, don’t ever try to drink it cold
Chorus
I was worried for my life just now
I’ll be fine ‘cause you’re here for me
Thanks to you, I’ll get by somehow
God, I love my morning coffee
